After leaving India, Australian players arrived in their country on Sunday on a charter flight after spending more than a week in the Maldives. In view of the growing Covid-19 cases in India, the IPL 2021 was postponed indefinitely, and since then the cricket authorities have been trying to get all the players to reach their respective countries.

National broadcaster ABC reported that all players, including Steve Smith and David Warner, boarded the Air Seychelles plane which landed in Sydney on Sunday at 7:30 a.m (local time).

It was only after the postponement of IPL 2021 due to rise of covid-19 cases in India that the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) was engaged in the task of providing safe places to the players. The BCCI arranged for all the players to leave the Maldives from the charter plane where all the players could remain safe and complete their quarantine period. After spending more than a week in the Maldives, on Sunday, 38 players, officials, coaches and commentators arrived safely in their country.

In view of the increasing infection of the corona virus in India, the Australian government had banned all flights coming from India till 15 May. Two days ago the Government of Australia removed this ban temporally so that some people who are trapped in India can return.

However, Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Sunday that all the cricketers who have returned from India have not been given any special facilities or treatment. All have returned at their own risk and from their tickets, ie, their flights and must stay in a 14-day mandatory quarantine at a hotel in Sydney.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said "the cricketers had not been given any special treatment, and would be coming back" under their own steam, on their own ticket ".

Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye and Kane Richardson had decided to quit IPL 2021 before IPL 2021 was postponed and their mandatory quarantine period was completed last week.

On Sunday, 310,000 new cases of corona virus were reported in India and 4,000 deaths were recorded. So far 2.74 lakh people have died prematurely due to Corona virus in India.
