Rohit, Rahane or Pant could be the next captain of India, says Salman Butt

"I am not aware of his domestic cricket (records) in-depth but from what I have seen in the IPL, if they handed Rishabh Pant the captaincy (of Delhi Capitals), then the cricket board (BCCI) may have some plans for the future.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt named three players who could become the captain of Team India in future. Currently, Virat Kohli is the captain of Team India in all three formats and he is playing this role in the best way. Salman Butt said that one of Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant could go on to become the captain of India. Butt gave this answer on the question of a fan.

Salman Butt said in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, "I don't know the depth of Pant's domestic cricket record. But what I have seen in IPL is if they handed Rishabh Pant the captaincy of Delhi Capitals, then BCCI may have some future plans. However, Kohli is still young and he is not going anywhere for the next 8-9 years. " Significantly, Pant was handed the captaincy after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of IPL 2021 due to injury. Delhi Capitals led by
Pant had done well before the postponement of IPL 14. The team topped the points table winning 6 matches in 8 matches.

Salman Butt also praised Captain of Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians, led by Rohit, have won the IPL title 5 times. But about Rohit, Butt said that Rohit Sharma is a great captain. I like him very much as a captain. Strategically, he is a much better captain. Salman Butt was also impressed with Indian team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane took over the captaincy in place of Kohli after losing the first Test in Australia. In the absence of many star players in the four-match series, India won the series 2–1.

Butt said that India had recently won the Test series in Australia, with Rahane taking over as captain. He did an excellent job in Australia. Butt, 36 years, ended his talk by saying that India need not worry in the near future. Whenever India needs it, they will have many options. Butt said let's see who comes next and what the scenario is. It is not a matter of discussion for Indian cricket right now. They have 3-4 people anyway.
