After a one-run win over Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli praised AB de Villiers. Calling him an ‘asset’, Kohli admitted that despite AB not playing international cricket, it does not seem that way.

AB de Villiers made an unbeaten 75 while Siraj defended 14 runs in the last over as RCB defeated DC by 1 run to move back to the top of the points table. A 78-run unbeaten partnership between Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer almost won the match for Delhi Capitals before Siraj delivered his pin-point yorkers to seal 1-run for Bangalore in Ahmedabad.

Match Report :

Virat Kohli in the post-match presentation ceremony said,"At one stage I did feel it was getting away. But the way Siraj started the last over gave us confidence. He finished clinically in the end. I still feel we could have done things differently. In the field a couple of lapses. Maxi, AB, Rajat had some nice innings".

Kohli said,"AB doesn't like me saying this, but he hasn't played competitive cricket for 5 months, but if you look at him bat it doesn't feel like he doesn't play international cricket anymore. Hats off to him, keeps doing it again and again for us. Such an asset for us. I'll say this again (smiles). He hasn't played for five months, just watch that innings".

Virat Kohli was also impressed with his fast bowlers as he thanked the little sandstorm in the middle which helped his side keep the ball dry.

"For the most part, I think we were top in this game with our bowlers. We felt 160-165 was par. It was a bit two-paced. There wasn't any dew tonight thanks to that little sandstorm in the middle and we ended up bowling with a dry ball. If you look at our bowling line-up, Maxi's still not bowling, he's the 7th option. As a captain I can bowl guys at different stages, take the load off one another. And Maxi is yet to bowl. We've always had batting but now bowling as well," Kohli added.

"I choose to be optimistic. You do well pressure as captain, when you do this for a long time you need to manage that. I generally go with the gut feeling of the bowler. A lot of credit goes to this guy behind me ( AB Di Villiers), he hasn't played competitive cricket in five months but he keeps doing this," Kohli further said.

With this win, RCB have regained the top spot in the IPL 2021 Points Table, winning five out of six games. They will next take on Punjab Kings at the same venue on April 30.
